I truly believe one of the major reasons why I am a strong and educated parent is because I was lucky enough to have Tobin as my doula. She will far exceed your expectations. Tobin was meant to be a doula; to help others and nurture children.

A bit about me…

My name is Tobin & I’m a postpartum doula and lactation educator based on Orcas Island, Washington.

Over the past fifteen years, my passions and work have directed me into the fields of public policy, community health, environmental education and childcare. My journey has put me in close contact with parents as they go through significant transitions and life events, the biggest of which is having a baby. I’ve learned that parents often feel unprepared (despite ample preparing!), overwhelmed and isolated in their new role. I see these challenges as opportunities to partner with new parents and guide them in their unique aptitudes to care and love for their children. Becoming a postpartum doula and lactation educator were natural professional steps as they aligned with my passion for families, community, and creating solutions.

I feel energized when I see parents build a relationship with their baby, make informed decisions, view themselves as competent and capable caregivers, find humor in the innate chaos of parenting, and establish balanced and healthy relationships with their partners, family, and community. I firmly believe that it not only takes a village to raise a child, but it also takes a village to support a family raising a child.

My doula practice is a reflection of who I am: honest, adaptive and greatly empathetic. I know how important it is to have non-judgmental, affirmative, and knowledgeable support as you enter parenthood and I derive great joy in building caring relationships with families. I consider this my unique expertise.

When I’m not working, you can find me spending time with my family, gardening, hiking, hosting dinner parties, reading, estate sale hunting, traveling, and being outside.

We are new parents, and while we have family support, it was very important to us to establish our own family rituals and Tobin helped foster an environment where my husband and I were learning but also creating our own routine
